How to do it

Recordings made on an iPhone
A MOV from an iPhone is usually a camera clip, a screen recording or a screen recording with the microphone on. The sound inside is AAC, which this page can pull out directly. A lecture, a voice note recorded as video or the sound of a screen recording all become a file you can play in a music app or send to a transcription tool.
Screen recordings only carry sound if the microphone or the system audio was on when you recorded. If the card says there is no audio track, that is the reason, and no tool can recover it.

Which is better for a voice recording, MP3 or M4A?
For speech, 192 kbps MP3 is plenty. M4A from a MOV with AAC sound is a straight copy with no loss at all.

What if the video has no sound?
