XPRTIX 3D

Compare a model before and after.

Drag a divider across the model, see where the triangles went, and map how far the surface moved. Nothing is uploaded.

XPRTIX 3D

Compare a model before and after: how it works

Smaller is only good if it still looks right

Every optimization makes a trade. Textures lose pixels, geometry loses precision, polygon reduction loses shape. The only way to judge it is to look, and a number in a table is not looking. So the result opens next to the original, from the same camera.

The viewer has five views: the original, the result, a wipe, side by side, and the deviation map.

Wipe and side by side

In the wipe, one picture shows the original on one side of a line you drag and the result on the other, so a change shows up exactly where you put the line. Turn the model and both turn together. Side by side shows both from the same angle, each labelled with its triangles and size, and Save PNG writes the two as one picture.

Numbers, step by step

Under the viewer, a bar for each of file size, triangles, draw calls and texture memory compares the two, and a list shows how the triangle count fell after each step: tidy, parts, hidden geometry, reduce, merge. If a step did nothing, you can see that.

The deviation map

Measure deviation takes points on the original and finds the distance of each to the surface of the result, then paints the original in colours from blue for no change to red for the largest. It reports the average, the distance 95% of the model is within, and the largest, as a share of the model's size. Parts and hidden geometry you removed count as far away, which is what they are.

When to keep the original

Compare before you save. If the wipe shows a texture gone soft, a rounded edge or a missing piece, change one setting and run again: the earlier result stays until the new one replaces it, so you can go back. The original file is never changed, and keeping it is the only way to try something else later.

What leaves your device

No model is uploaded. Everything runs in your browser; the compression engines and the validator are downloaded from this site the first time they are needed. What is recorded.

Questions

Asked often

How do I compare two files I already have?

Optimize one inside XPRTIX and the comparison is made for you. Comparing two separate files is not built.

What does the deviation percentage mean?

The distance as a share of the model's bounding-box diagonal. The same share means a few millimetres on a car and a fraction of a millimetre on a ring. Small values are rarely visible; the map shows where the larger ones are.

Why is part of the map red?

Something there was removed or moved far: a hidden part taken out, or a heavy polygon reduction.

Does it compare textures?

It shows them side by side in the viewer, but the deviation map measures shape only.

Can I save the comparison?

Yes. Save PNG writes the current view, and the side-by-side view writes both halves with their labels.

Is my model uploaded?

No. The measuring and the viewer run in your browser.
