Crop a video: how it works
How to crop
Drop your video and the editor opens on it. Drag the box over the picture to choose what stays, and pick a ratio to lock its shape: 1:1 for a square post, 9:16 for a story or short, 16:9 for a widescreen cut, or free for any shape. Apply, then press the button to save the cropped copy.
Reframing for social video
A horizontal video can become a vertical one by cropping to 9:16 and placing the box over the part that matters. A square 1:1 crop suits a feed post. The crop keeps the original pixels, so crop to the smallest area you need rather than scaling afterwards.
Crop with a trim and a rotate
The same window trims the start and end and rotates the picture, so one pass covers all three. To cut the file size afterwards, compress it. Cropping re-encodes the video at high quality.

What leaves your device
No video is uploaded. Everything runs in your browser; a small converter (about 3 MB) is downloaded once, and only for a format the browser cannot read. What is recorded.

Questions
Asked often
Can I crop a horizontal video to vertical?
Yes. Choose 9:16 in the editor and slide the box over the part you want to keep.
Does cropping make the file smaller?
Usually a little, because there are fewer pixels to store. For a real saving, compress it as well.
Can I crop to a square?
Yes. Pick 1:1 and position the box.
Does it crop the sound too?
No. The sound is unchanged. Tick Remove sound in the same window if you want it gone.
Is my video sent anywhere to be cropped?
No. It is cropped in your browser and saved on your device.
Which formats can I crop?
MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV and AVI. You get an MP4 unless you choose another format.
